Clinton is located 75 kilometres (47 miles) south of 100 Mile House on Highway 97, and 40 kilometres (25 miles) north of the Highway 97/Trans-Canada Highway 1 Junction. Known as the “Gateway to the Cariboo,” Clinton’s economic base is driven by the forest industry; other important sectors are ranching, retail trade and tourism. Clinton is a service centre for its base population of approximately 650, with an outlying service area of another 2000 people.
